Year 3 Summer Term Curriculum Letter
Dear Parents/ Carers,
Welcome to the summer term at Stamford Hill! I hope everyone has had an enjoyable and restful holiday. As ever we have a busy term ahead of us, full of hard work and enjoyable activities.
Spelling: Children will be set 10 new spellings each week from the Year 3 statutory spelling list. Weekly spelling test each Friday. It is imperative that an effort is made to learn spellings as these are words that can also be used to improve writing across all curriculum areas.
Reading: At least 30 minutes reading must be done daily at home. Children can read their own book, a book from the class book corner, or a book from Bug’s Club. Children’s reading record must be returned each day to be checked. Your child will be given a new book each week which is set to their reading ability.
Maths: Daily times tables practice.
Additionally, our homework policy states that Bug’s Club and Mathletics are compulsory. All children have logins for both sites. They have 40 books set to their reading level and tasks set on Mathletics (10 per week), these MUST be completed.
P.E takes place on Monday and Wednesday. It is essential children bring the appropriate P.E kit to participate. Educational trips will be organised throughout the term to enhance your child’s learning. If you do not wish your child to take part in a trip then the letter must be signed and returned.
There are many after school Clubs for children to choose from. School finishes promptly at 3.15p.m and clubs finish at 4p.m.
Each day there is a FREE breakfast club where the children can select from a range of healthy breakfast choices and partake in a number of sports activities.
